The City of Thornton straddles Adams County and Weld County in an area roughly due north of Denver. Today, it’s the sixth most populous city in Colorado. But in your grandparent’s day, it didn’t even exist. Until 1953 the area that is now Thornton was nothing but farmland, much of which lay fallow. Like most of the earliest settlers in this part of the country the people who originally established those farms had either arrived as part of the Colorado Gold Rush in the mid-19th century (“the 59ers” as they were known) or were descended from those early prospectors.
Demand for farmland in the area ebbed and flowed over the years and in the immediate post-WWII years much of it was unused. In 1953 a man stepped forward with a plan to develop some of this land. His name was Sam Hoffman and he’s a true American success story. Hoffman emigrated at an early age from Russia. Taught himself English and the basics of the building trades and gradually built a business empire that included single-family housing developments in Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Illinois, and of course, Colorado.
He envisioned turning that little used farmland into a city and named his budding community after then-Governor Dan Thornton. A year after purchasing the land the first 40 families moved into their brand-new Hoffman Homes just off Washington Street. A year after that, in 1955, Thornton had grown to more than 5,000 residents, and in 1956 Thornton was incorporated as a city. Today the population is estimated at some 136,000+ and the city continues to grow at a robust rate.
Thornton today is a modern, thriving upscale community with some 2,000 acres of open space and parkland and many miles of hiking, biking, and walking trails weaving through and around the city. There are golf courses, recreation centers, and the recently renovated North Stadium. Downtown Denver lies just a 10-minute ride down I-25 and Boulder just 20 minutes or so up Route 36.
First Class Carpet Cleaning in Thornton and Vicinity
From the meticulously maintained homes on Russell Blvd in the South to the stylish and spacious new homes on Elizabeth Circle in the north (and all the original Hoffman Homes that still dot the landscape) Thornton is a city where pride of place is a concept that resonates. A good many of these homes have wall-to-wall carpeting that not only looks and feels great underfoot but also helps keep the houses warm and snug during the brutal Colorado winters.
But while wall-to-wall certainly helps in creating a cozy environment during those frigid days of January and February it’s not without its downside. That mostly consists of the fact that it tends to hold onto dirt and debris that’s brought in on the bottom of people’s feet. During the warm weather months dust, pollen and a host of allergens find their way inside as well. Meaning you must have a carpet cleaning company you can rely on to keep your home both clean and hygienic. Steve’s is that company.
For more than 42 years we’ve been helping area homeowners maintain a clean, sanitary environment in their homes. Our state-of-the-art, truck-mounted vacuum, and steam cleaning system digs down to the root of the pile and removes every last grain of dust and every dust mite or budding bacterial colony. And if you have prized Persian or Oriental rugs in your home no one in Colorado is better qualified to clean and maintain them than the pros at Steve’s.
More Than Just Carpet Cleaners
While we’re proud of our reputation for being Thornton’s premier carpet cleaning service we also offer an array of related services. These ensure your home is not only clean and beautiful but safe and hygienic as well. These services include:
- Duct cleaning - While we love the bracing mountain air of Colorado we have to acknowledge that air is often laden with allergens including mold spores, pollen, ragweed, and more. In addition, dust from the Colorado plateau is an all-too-familiar aspect of the environment. All these things and more find their way into the ducts in your home, clogging them up, impeding the free flow of air, and circulating dangerous microbes. Most people who suffer from seasonal allergies find their situation made much worse by dirty air ducts in their homes. Our highly trained technicians will return your ducts to their original pristine state in no time. And for less than you think.
- Upholstery cleaning - Keeping your dryer vent clean is an absolute home safety must. And maintaining clean, clear air ducts will make your home healthier and likely reduce your energy bills. But keeping your upholstery clean is just as important. Because the same microbes that settle into the carpet and circulate through the air ducts also come to rest in the upholstery. Our first-class steam cleaning service is the best, most thorough way to eliminate this health hazard.
- Flood repair services - Like everyone else in this part of the country we’re all too aware of the dangers posed by flooding. None of us will forget 2013 and the toll that year’s floods took on life and property. In the wake of that disaster, we decided to offer a variety of flood-related repair and restoration services. These include the restoration of water-damaged furniture and hardwood floors as well as the small-scale distribution of emergency supplies to help our friends and neighbors cope.
